All-student art exhibit, Salon des Refusés

Saturday, April 24, 2010 § 0

I submitted a few pieces for my school's end-of-the year art exhibit. One of them was selected for the juried show in the student art gallery and the other ones were "rejected" and were put in the Salon des Refusés, an exhbit that Augsburg does for artwork that is not selected inspired by the Parisian scene of 1863 when artists were rejected from the Paris Salon and their work was instead exhibited in an annex section. Here are some pictures:

I noticed these pieces at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts Foot In The Door exhibit. They are intriguing. I saw several people trying to push the buttons hoping something would happen. Thumbs up to the artists that created these.

Art Print at "Foot In The Door" - Minneapolis Institute of Arts

I submitted this print to the "Foot In The Door Exhibition" at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, which is an opportunity for artists residing in Minnesota to showcase their artwork, and it occurs every ten years. The space limit is one cubic foot. Hence the name of the exhibit. I took some pictures during the opening reception and found my print up there. This year close to 5,000 artists submitted work. It was awesome.
